Add new commentthyroidstory.mivox.com was started as a simple blog dealing with my new diagnosis of hypothyroidism. Topics include medical information about hypothyroidism, information about hypothyroid medications like levothyroxine (Synthroid) and Armour Thyroid, as well as natural supplements like Thyromine, vincopectine and various vitamins and minerals. The site has now expanded to include discussion forums where other hypothyroid patients can discuss their experiences with hypothyroidism, and share tips for what medications, supplements and weight loss strategies have worked best for them.
Hmm... Submitted by Guest on Friday, 16 March, 2007 - 5:21am Well, I've been taking thyroid since age 17 (I'm now 24). After taking Garden of Life probiotics and a couple other beneficial supplements, I was able to get off thyroid medication until I got pregnant. I had racing heard issues when taking Armour years ago. BUT I took too much. You can actually chew off or cut off part of the pills---you don't have to jump from huge varying dosage amounts like 2 1/2 to 5 or anything crazy. I used to take like 1/3 to 1 gram. My doc let me regulate it myself. If I felt crappy, I literally bit off a little more. If I started getting palpitations (but hopefully noticed any other pre-hyperthyroid sypmtoms before that one...) I'd take less. I took Levoxyl and T3 and did great on that, but had some hormone issues at my daughter's 6 month mark and my doc switched me to Thyrolar. I didn't like it; even when my blood tests showed normal I didn't feel well. I thought maybe it was still the hormones so I didn't fuss when he put me on it again; now, he's about to probably switch me to Armour. Your heart fluttering COULD be an entirely different issue in itself. Did you know a racing heart can be associated with low estrogen? Or an imbalance of hormones in general? Check with a qualified INTERNIST or female doc who will offer you a SALIVA HORMONE test. I think the heart issues may be a result of varying amounts of Armour or too much Armour, but the blood pressure may be diet and/or hormone related. Be sure to eat only healthy fats. Also, you are at the prime age for atherosclerosis and other heart issues. Check on those numbers, too! You may have found an answer by now, as it is March, but if you need further help, e-mail me at Reply |
