I've only been on Armour for 2 weeks, though, but so far no. And I used to have them quite frequently (heart palps) before I went on Levothyroxine back in March.
That medication only did 2 things for me - no more heart palps and no more chronic headaches.

Yes, Terri. With me, the heart palpitations are a recent occurence. For 3 yrs. I'd been taking approx. .68mcg of levoxyl plus 1/4 gr. Armour thyroid with no problems. My doc was trying to keep my TSH level at 1.0. Last time I was in her office, I was at .6 Recently, in fact so recently that I've yet to contact my doc, I started having palpitations, lots of them. I stopped taking the Armour, and Monday will put a call in to get my medication adjusted. I also have sweats, but really hadn't given that too much thought. Guess that's most likely the Armour too.
I'm not knocking the Armour at all. Initially it was the only thing that energized me at all.

Armour is an excellent thyroid med, but it should be taken twice a day. Whatever your daily dosage is, split the pill in half, take one half in the morning, one half at night. This should help your palpitations. I believe it's becuase the T3 is absorbed so rapidly.

There is another site I've been reading - stopthethyroidmadness.com - I have read that increasing the thyroid med can drain the adrenals more causing these symptoms. See information about adrenals/cortisol and also look at link "mistakes patients make" - also excellent forums with moderators that are thyroid patients that have been through it all.

My dad has just been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. He is obese and has high cholesterol too. His doctor has prescribed him a medicine called thyroid assist for hypothyroidism. I have looked for this in all the pharmacies in my locality but it’s not available. One of my friends advised me to buy it online and I ordered without taking the advice from others. Now I am thinking whether I have done the right thing by ordering from an unknown pharmacy? The site where I’ve ordered is http://www.drugdelivery.ca I am getting worried now. Has someone dealt with this pharmacy before? Are the people over there trustworthy and reliable? Give me your opinions please.

There is an over the counter natural product called Thyroid Assist. Maybe your dad's doctor meant this. It can be found at http://www.nativeremedies.com/thyroid-assist-treatment-hypothyroidism.shtml

I am having heart palpitations but no heart medication. To be honest I am afraid of what I might find out. I suppose it's serious because I keep having palpitations since childhood. I heard that norvasc generic is quite good for this. Have you tried it yet?

Low thyroid and palpitations...?

I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of 17, as a complication of type 1 diabetes. For a few weeks now I have had a lot of heart palpitations (several times an hour at the lowest). I had blood work done, thinking my thyroid meds needed to be lowered. But apparently, my numbers are in the lower end of the normal range. I have been on meds for my hypothyroidism since diagnosed, I am taking 175 mcg Levothyroxin (generic) a day now.
I can only find information about the link between hyperthyroidism and heart palpitations. What about hypothyroidism and heart palpitations? Is there such a connection? And, are these heart palpitations dangerous or just an annoyance?
I would greatly appreciate any input on this, as I am somewhat worried and want to know what is going on and how to deal with it.
Thank you.
Marita.
