Hypothyroid Supplements

thyroidstory.mivox.com was started as a simple blog dealing with my new diagnosis of hypothyroidism. Topics include medical information about hypothyroidism, information about hypothyroid medications like levothyroxine (Synthroid) and Armour Thyroid, as well as natural supplements like Thyromine, vincopectine and various vitamins and minerals. The site has now expanded to include discussion forums where other hypothyroid patients can discuss their experiences with hypothyroidism, and share tips for what medications, supplements and weight loss strategies have worked best for them.

When I was in my mid late 20's I was diagnosed with Graves Disease - did the Radioactive Iodine - felt good for about 3 years then gained massive weight and became seriously tired all the time - my neck became puffy and I looked like I was 9 months pregnant. My TSH levels were off the chart- became severely Hypothyroid. I have been on Synthroid since. Now I am starting to gain weight again, my neck is puffy, I am tired, but my levels show normal. I am thinking of trying Organic Iodine as a supplement. Has anyone else tried this? I am also entering into Perimenopause, and I know things are off in my body - regardless of 'normal' TSH levels. Anyone else have this problem?

My dad has just been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism last saturday. He has high level of cholesterol and is obese. His doctor has prescribed him to take "thyroid assist for hypothyroidism". I have looked for this in all the pharmacies in my locality but it’s not available.

Good Evening all. I have been on Armour for 3 months, and having heart palpitations and sweats. I am now up to 105 mg, and it will probably be raised more since my thyroid is still low. I know it takes time for the body to adjust, but does anyone else have these problems?
