What happened with Thyromine

I read about your comment after I had bought my thyromine. I have taken it for a week and was mostly fine, but tonight, I have a toothache. It is possible that the two are not related as I did have a toothache once a couple of months ago on the same side of the face, but I figured I would check here to see what happened with your health issue after seeing the doctor and testing the thyromine. I'm hoping to go to the dentist this week and check on things as I think this may be a cavity, but it never hurts to cover all of the bases...
Blessings,
V.

Don't you think you jumped the gun on blaming Thyromine for your allergic reaction?. You don't even know if your symptoms were from the Thyromine! So what were the results of your investagation? I find it amusing that we've heard no more out of you since you ranted about hoqw Thyromine better hope that there were no hidden metals and materials. So have you hired a lawyer and sued them? I would be very interested to here how things are coming along.

I already take syntroid of my underactive tyriod but every 3 months when i go to get it checked out my dosage just keeps on gettin higher. im still trying to see if i could take my medication as well as thyromine and maybe it might help. i exercise like crazy and i cant lose weight. i can maintain a healthy weight but its just fustrating to not get the results that i want. After reading this ill have to look into it more bc this side effect may not be from thyromine.... hummmmmmmmm

I still have their ad on MY blog site because I had nothing but a positive reaction to the product. Personally, I think this poster was making a bit of a hysterical knee-jerk reaction to something without having any real idea what actually happened.

I am sorry to hear about this, I had no idea that this medicine could have such effects. You are worrying me, as I have a weak immune system and I need to be aware of all the risks.

RE: Thyromine Users Beware

Nine months later and not a single follow-up to this post -- was the user too embarrassed to post what actually happened to him/her? It sounded like this person had an abcessed tooth to me, and I have had an abcessed tooth in the past myself which fit the exact description given, including the pain and swelling. It is highly doubtful that a single dose could cause such immediate and exaggerated symptoms.
This person claims to work in the health care field... well, I too worked in the health care field BOTH in traditional Western medicine (i.e. a University Medical Center involved in research) as well as in alternative health care. It's amazing how quick the 'traditionalists' are to bash something 'natural'. I worked in the Renal Division and out of six M.D.'s there was ONLY ONE who would prescribe vitamin supplements for his patients on dialysis who were depleted after several dialysis sessions. The other doctors laughed at him and questioned why he believed in supplements for his patients -- well, duh! Dialysis filters the blood with an artificial filter and returns the blood back to the patient MINUS certain minerals!
I also have worked for a CCN - Certified CLINICAL Nutritionist who actually LECTURES to doctors and dentists! She has helped SO MANY people, including myself to overcome a plethora of different illnesses and conditions which are the result of deficiencies in the diet. Come on people -- look at the standard American diet today! it's full of chemicals, pesticides, antibiotics, drugs, irradiation, etc. How in God's name does ANYONE expect to be "healthy" eating such a diet? which is also filled with mucus-forming dairy products and sugars of all sorts which are not good for any of us!
In any case, I have not tried this product, but I came here through a link on a search, and it's people like this who do these products a terrible dis-service when it's possible it could help so many. I've read so many positive reviews of this product. No, I've not taken this particular product, but I have taken other products with some measure of success and this one sounded promising. I intend to try it and report back. Salud!

Well-informed consumerism

It is unfortunate that you had that reaction and I hope you have recovered! However, I have had reactions to pills prescribed by doctors as well, with not one nurse ever bothering to check a PDR (Physician's Desk Reference). It is my view that we have to be very-well-informed consumers and not let anyone dictate what we do with our lives.
I have been on Synthroid or Levothyroxine now for 22 years and this year I plummeted down into a lie-on-the-couch funk that did not dispel with vitamins or acupuncture or therapy. What did pull me out of it was a product called "Raw Thyroid" (a tissue extract complex of thyroid, adrenal, spleen, thymus and pituitary) and I have no one to advise me on how to take it... it has literally pulled me out of that slump to the point where I can now cook a meal without burning it and get a day's work in. It is very difficult to take because I my doctor (an internist) knows nothing about natural thyroid supplementation. Self-pay visits to one of the "natural" thyroid doctors will cost me $500/$400 a visit plus lab tests plus additional visits-- I can't cover that, so I will take my chances.

Drop the Synthroid- Try a Natural hormone

Your story sounds like so many others... you 'seemed' to be doing just fine on Synthroid, only to have the bottom drop out from under you.
I spent 17 years on Synthroid to help prevent the remaining half of my thyroid from growing exponentially, like the right half did and had to be removed.
In 1999, my doctor decreased my Synthroid dosage because my T4 levels were too high... and that upset the applecart. For the next 5 months, my thyroid had two speeds: peddle to the metal, and park.... I would have weeks where I could barely get out of bed and slept 12-14 hours a day... then I would have 8-12 days where I would be awake 20 hours a day and could not sit still for more than 45 minutes.... and yes all the symptoms of both hyper and hypo thyroidism.
We did an ultra sound of my thyroid in November and it looked normal.... by June of the next year, when we finally had to remove the rest of my thyroid.... the remaining half had grown from the size of a sivler dollar to that of a medium sized baking potato and was wrapping around my esophagus.
Even after surgery, I suffered greatly on Synthroid...then I asked my GP if we could at least try Armour-a natural thyroid replacement. For me, the reults were immediate and I would feel great and then plummet again. My GP would increase my dosage by a tiny amount and I would feel great for a few weeks... that went on for years.
Alas, my doctors kept me as such a low doseage, that I developed Fibromyalgia, which has all the same symptoms of hypo thyroidism and one more awful one: persistent incapacitating pain that completely covers your body. Lucky for me, I found a clinic in Boulder that had enough research to definitively state that Fibro is caused by low thyroid. You can find their information at DrLowe.com and DrGinaHoneyman.com- this site carries the patient's guide that I bought and live by.
Between these sites and Mary Shomon's at Thyroid.About.com... I have finally begun to feel normal again.
The keys are:
A Natural Thyroid Hormone Replacement...
In the dosage high enough for my body
Hi protein, proper carb diet
Lots of vitamins to compensate for the lack of a thyroid- (you can find a complete list of what I take at my Yahoo group:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/fibro_thyroid_connection/)
Look in the Files section at the homepage.
Why did I spend so much time on my story for your answer.... you need to see what you are up against, if you DON'T take care of your thyroid dosage, and demand your doctors treat you according to your symptoms and not your blood work.

Hey ARNie, are you still out there? I'm having the same issues you are describing so I tried to follow your link and it says the page is not there anymore...I still have my thyroid but wanted to check out your list of supplements you take besides the natural thyroid.
THanks for posting - it helps to hear others' stories as this is not a simple fix problem.
As for the post from March of 2007 - it shows up first on a google search for thyromine so, owner of the blog, you might want to remove it since there's been no news since that thyromine was the cause. It's unnecessary hype on the negative side and people who are searching for an answer don't need hype. If this person had followed up with proof or a recall of their accusations, that would be great but it's been almost a year and NOTHING. Save us the stress (like we need more stress!) of reading through junk like that.
THanks!

Plantars Fasciitis & Hypothyroidism

I'm just wondering if anyone out there has faced this problem after starting a medicinal treatment (I have Armour Thyroid) for hypothyroidism. My problem didn't start until then....and I quit taking the thyroid medicine and found my voice got lower, more hair fell out, my nails broke and I got sluggish....but....I didn't have any pain in my feet. So, I quickly went back onto the medicine to avoid those problems and they disappeard...but my feet began to hurt again. This leads me to believe that the Armour Thyroid DOES help my thyroid but must be depleting me of some vitamin or vitamins and that is where the pain comes in. Any ideas out there?
